Alexandre Armand e Bram Dauw • Ecal

From April 5 to 10, 2006, ECAL - Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne presents Commotion, a project by designers Alexandre Armand and Bram Dauw, founders of the Società Francobelge Design.

The installation by the two young graduates in media & interaction design consists of a very particular car circuit, where the cars are interactive and remotely controlled exclusively by the sound of the voice. “The principle of Commotion is very simple: it involves using your own voice to drive the cars. The louder you shout, the faster the cars move. If you go off the track, through the helmet worn, you feel a small shock,” explain the project creators.

Alexandre Armand (1980, France) and Bram Dauw (1980, Belgium) founded Francobelge Design in 2003. They have collaborated with the Japanese NHK TV, singer Hanin Elias for music videos, architects Decosterd & R., artists FUR, H5, Ryota Kuwakubo. Francobelge Design promotes its projects in various contexts, exhibitions, and festivals such as Ars Electronica in Linz in 2004 and Imagina Festival in Monaco (2006).
