Tetê Knecht ed Elia Mangia • ECAL

From 18.04 to 23.04.2007

On the occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Careof renews its collaboration with the prestigious Design, Art, and Communication school ECAL - Ecole Cantonale D'Art De Lausanne.

Chosen among the most interesting projects realized at ECAL, Tactile by Tetê Knecht stems from in-depth research and a conscious use of materials. By comparing different elements and allowing different substances to interact, Tetê creates a “palette” based on the combination of textures and densities sometimes very far from each other, from which a variety of prototypes take shape: from large beds to ironic shoes literally “hand made.”

For the first time, Careof also invites a young Milanese designer this year, Elia Mangia. After Market — the name of the proposed project — does not aim to intervene technologically with investigations on new materials and production processes, but rather aims to reestablish the magical relationship between humans and objects. Contravening the consumerist logic that decrees the end of a product’s life with the fulfillment of the function for which it was conceived, the designer suggests new possible uses for everyday objects, highlighting their formal and material qualities, in an attempt to rescue them from their destined fate. Elia Mangia aims to make visitors reflect on the theme of sustainability by stimulating the creativity and design thinking of each user.
