The exhibition alternates 25 works—with a rhythm of two per day—between video works and sound projects. From the animations of Rebecca Agnes and Marco Raparelli, to the cinematographic-style creations of Italo Zuffi and Yuri Ancarani, to the stories depicted in images by Meris Angioletti, to the atmospheres evoked by the painterly videos of Massimo Pianese, to the paradoxical situations observed by Jacopo Miliani or Brodie Ellis. Productions by Marco Belfiore, Luciana Andreani, and T-Yong Chung offer documentation of reality that is anything but objective. Enzo Umbaca presents a large-scale multimedia project from which a performance, a video, and an audio CD were born.
There are also multiple approaches characterizing the sound productions: while the projects by artists such as Riccardo Benassi, David Balula, and Guido Affini stem from the investigation of a real space, those by Francesca Grilli, Donatella Spaziani, and Giuseppe Signorin exploit the medium for its capacity for intimate and introspective inquiry. From the isolation of certain details to the engagement and dismantling of mechanisms borrowed from real fields—cinema, musical culture, applied sciences—come the works of Robert Vincent, Stanislao di Giugno, Nark Bkb, Gabriele Sedda, and Beatrice Catanzaro.
For the large plane tree overlooking the garden of the exhibition space, Emilia Scharfe created Funambolo, a complex site-specific installation. By weaving 2000 meters of coconut rope using the crochet technique, the German artist wrapped—both protecting and constraining at the same time—the entire trunk of the tree.
Disorienting and melancholic, Davide Savorani’s performance Muta revisits during the inauguration a looping sound interpretation of the song Mbube (The Lion Sleeps Tonight).
Thanks to LEGGERI GROUP for the Funambolo installation
