Il raccolto d'autunno è stato abbondante

CURATED BY
Chiara Agnello and Milovan Farronato

From 10.11 to 23.12.2009

Following two years of research, Careof and Viafarini, in collaboration with the Assessorato alle Culture, Identità e Autonomie of Regione Lombardia, are ready to showcase some of the most interesting artists whose work is extensively documented in the archives of DOCVA, the documentation center for visual arts in Milan.

The artists on display, selected by Chiara Agnello and Milovan Farronato, form a heterogeneous group that had the opportunity to engage in discussions in the months preceding the inauguration. Their aim was to explore possible synergies or appropriate strategies for sharing the exhibition space, orchestrate the definition of the works on show, and arrange their sequence. Young artists at the beginning of their careers— for whom the exhibition is a ground for experimentation and the physical space of an intellectual gymnasium—are paired with more experienced artists who have notable exhibitions behind them.

This is a substantial "collection" intended to provide insight into a variety of research approaches differing in styles and expressive modes, examining themes, interests, and recurring motifs: from the astronomical speculations of Cleo Fariselli to the historical evocations of Renato Leotta or the literary ones of Emily Bovino; from the Italic folklore of Antonio Barletta to the multicultural reflections of Anja Puntari and Maia Sambonet; from the gestures imbued with romanticism of Matteo Rosa to the silent presences of Giovanni Oberti and Loredana Di Lillo; from the precarious constructions of Manuel Scano to the paradoxical interventions of Santo Tolone, up to the assemblages of Riccardo Baruzzi and Giorgio Guidi, where each element retains traces of personal and collective memory.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog published by Mousse Publishing.
