Tutti per 1, 1 per tutti
PROJECT BY
Elenia Depedro
CURATED BY
Sara Fumagalli and Sara Mazzocchi
From 07.05.2009 to 23.05.2009
During the opening night, starting at 7:00 PM, three new performances will be presented to the public, offering a synthesis of the artist’s latest reflections in the field of performance art.
Performance holds a fundamental position in Elenia Depedro’s artistic production and is conceived as an exchange, an interaction, an experience in which the spectator inevitably plays a central role. The three pieces created at Careof, linked by a musical fil rouge, are always designed for a soloist – the performer – and the audience.
Self-portrait as Broken Michelangelo is a classical pantomime performance built around the concepts of official space/space of representation, object/work of art, interior/exterior. [Performance for soloist and audience. Performer: Fabian Cohn]. The second performance, Self-portrait as a Heart of Stone, emerges in relation to sculpture and revolves around the themes of real/imaginary, permitted/forbidden, proximity/distance. [Performance for soloist and audience. Performer: Francesca Pellanda].
Self-portrait as Funfunfun, the final performance, is a dance piece. The action delves deeper into the concepts of proximity/distance already introduced in Self-portrait as a Heart of Stone, pushing more explicitly the threshold between the possible and the unexpected. [Performance for soloist and audience. Performer: Sabine Karkó].
In the days following the opening, Careof’s exhibition space will host the post-production work of the performances presented: for the first time, the artist offers the public a selection of 240 drawings and watercolors created in the studio using a slide projector, based on the principle of multiple/repetition and marked with the stamp “copia da”.
The project is completed by offering the drawings and watercolors for sale at the price of 100 euros. Through this mechanism, the artist makes the traces of her performative works visible and accessible to the public with the aim of supporting her future actions and performances.
