Education Lab

CURATED BY
Dipartimento Educazione del DOCVA

IN COLLABORATION WITH
ANISA per l'educazione all'arte e CRAC - Centro Ricerca Arte Contemporanea, Cremona

From 29.03.2012 to 30.03.2012

After the success of the first edition, Education Lab returns, a moment of operational dialogue and an opportunity to promote the network of realities connected to the world of education through contemporary art: educators, artists, students, and the educational departments of the major Italian museums for contemporary art. The 2012 edition focuses attention on secondary schools, with particular emphasis on the dialogue between contemporary art institutions and the school world.

The program is divided into two days: The first, Thursday 29th, from 10:00 to 18:00, curated by Laura Colombo and Elena Introzzi (ANISA - Associazione Nazionale Insegnanti di Storia dell'Arte) and Dino Ferruzzi (CRAC - Centro Ricerca Arte Contemporanea at the B. Munari state art high school, Cremona), includes a series of workshops and training courses carried out by students from the state art high schools: U. Boccioni, Milan; Brera, Milan; Caravaggio, Milan; B. Munari, Cremona. Enriching the offer, the artist Francesca Marconi involves students in Sguardi aperti in Paolo Sarpi, a participatory workshop of exploration and narration of the neighborhood through a poetic reading and an open, living documentation shared in an installation archive in the DOCVA spaces. On the same day, the association Pane Arte e Marmellata organizes the workshop IO! A photographic portrait/self-portrait, based on the analysis of the metaphorical, chromatic, formal, and conceptual value of everyday objects and aimed at creating an environmental photographic self-portrait. The association Mascherenere organizes the dance workshop Sole Acqua e Terra, inspired by the homonymous theatrical show.

The second day, Friday 30th, from 10:00 to 18:00, curated by the DOCVA Education Department, offers opportunities for theoretical discussion and laboratory experience for the professional development of secondary school teachers, offered directly by the education departments of: Castello di Rivoli Museo d’arte contemporanea, Rivoli (TO); Centro di Cultura Contemporanea Strozzina, Florence; DOCVA Documentation Center for Visual Arts, Milan; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin; MAGA Museo Arte Gallarate; MAMbo Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna; MART Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto. On the same day, at the conclusion of the sessions, a round table will be held to present the new web 2.0 platform, updatable by the participants themselves, to give visibility to the best practices implemented both by museums and institutions for the contemporary, as well as by individual artists and educational operators active in education through art. The editorial project ISTRUZIONE Arte contemporanea e didattica sperimentale in Italia, curated by Maria Rosa Sossai and Paola Gaggiotti with editorial coordination by Federica Cimatti, which will be published by Corraini, will also be presented.

In the weeks following the workshop sessions, two days of study and training will be organized at Università IULM: one for the professional development of Art History teachers, in collaboration with ANISA, and the other for the professional orientation of young artists towards the opportunities offered by the creative industry sector, in collaboration with the Docva Archive.
