MIO. Milano & OLTRE. Una visione in movimento

SHOW - EVENT CURATED BY
Connecting Cultures

VIDEO SELECTION CURATED BY
Careof

From 02.05.2013 to 30.05.2013

How can we reinvent the relationship between the metropolis and those who live in it, traverse it, use it, visit it—even in its most secret places that sometimes appear too static, sometimes elusive in their unstoppable transformation, yet too often remain foreign to us, distant from our desires?

Milano & oltre. Una visione in Movimento, which concludes the three-year project supported by Fondazione Cariplo, aims to be an opportunity to engage with the city we live in, through an open invitation to all citizens: a workshop on the future of metropolises, an exhibition that gradually unfolds through a dense calendar of events. Throughout the month of May, artists, architects, urban planners, photographers, scientists, policy makers, jurists, performers, and dancers will take turns offering to everyone—young and old, Milanese and foreigners, able-bodied and differently-abled—an unusual Milan, the city we would like to live in.

Participatory city, plural city, new citizens, sustainability, interculturalism, open source design, urban landscape, relational art, art and science will be the subjects of roundtables, meetings, workshops, and performances that will animate Triennale di Milano for a month. An open invitation to be inspired by visions, proposals, experiences, and projects that will demonstrate how art and culture can be catalysts of energy and change in contemporary urban contexts.

During the event, a rich program will enliven the video room space, where artist videos, documentaries, short and feature films made by artists, filmmakers, and creatives will be screened. Careof curates and presents a special program reflecting on the themes of the city and its possible declinations, starting from the works present in Archivio Video.

On display, it will also be possible to consult Videojukebox, an individual computer station developed by Careof to offer users a wide selection of video materials, complete with bibliographic information, collected within Archivio Video. Videojukebox functions as a true “satellite office” of DOCVA: located in exhibition and museum contexts, it offers different reading paths among the works and video documentation preserved in the Archive.

With the contribution of Comune di Milano and Fondazione Cariplo
