Federico Cavallini (Italy, 1974), Juan Pablo Macías (Mexico, 1974) together with Brice Delarue (France, 1981) share their new editorial projects while cooking together.

Brice Delarue, co-founder of the Berlin-based design and project studio Zirkumlex, is the designer of the volumes by the two artists.

“Il franco cacciatore” by Federico Cavallini (Kunstverein Publishing, Milano, 2015) is a book cataloging leaves fallen from a pear tree that the artist began to “hunt” since 2003. “Il franco cacciatore,” quoting a poetry collection by Giorgio Caproni which in turn quotes the first German romantic work by Carl Maria von Weber, is an anti-narrative book where time falls into a visual loop.

Juan Pablo Macías presents “The Anarchist Doctrine Accessible to All,” an essay by José Rodrigues Leite e Oiticica from 1925, translated into English for the first time and published by “WORD+MOIST PRESS,” the publishing house run by the artist to promote and share unpublished texts on the origins of libertarian thought and, as he states, “to print words that are not text or law, but breaths from the past and present.”

The two artists, together with Brice Delarue, will produce a basic layout of an edition to be developed by all participants in the event.
The meeting will take place before and during a dinner.

A writer who paints and an artist who writes
There will be discussions about writing, art, symmetries, and reflections among the various forms of composing.

The artist Meri Gorni will present her book "Come promesso" (Corraini Edizioni, 2013), published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Andata e ricordo. Souvenir de voyage' at Mart in Rovereto. In the book, Meri Gorni collects letters from women writing from their hotel rooms to other women—written in different languages and on hotel stationery from all over the world—and pairs them with portraits of women of different nationalities, eras, and ages. Intimate letters coming from afar, testimonies of care, attention, and a maintained commitment: “I send you, as promised, my portrait.” For the artist, the book becomes an object containing writing, reading, and image: "every book we read adds something to the knowledge of ourselves. We are never the same after reading a book. Writing is tying together images of memory; it is redeeming events that in reality are fragments, always missing something."
During the presentation, her new video "Vocabolario alla voce: essere" will be shown.

Meri Gorni will converse with Nicola Gardini, author of novels, poetry, and essays. They will discuss how constructing a plot, a meter, or a discourse about the meaning of literature are not different things. "Anyway," Gardini explains, "it is about building a space of letters where a story unfolds and something unexpected happens."

Nicola Gardini has published the novels "Così ti ricordi di me" (Sironi, 2003), "Lo sconosciuto" (Sironi, 2007 and BEAT 2012), "Le parole perdute di Amelia Lynd" (Feltrinelli, 2012, Viareggio Prize 2012), and "Fauci" (Feltrinelli, 2013); and the memoir "I baroni" (Feltrinelli, 2009 and 2012). Upcoming is "La vita non vissuta" (Feltrinelli), which features one of his paintings on the cover. His essays include: "Com’è fatta una poesia" (Sironi, 2007) and "Lacuna" (Einaudi, 2014). His poetry collections include: "Atlas" (Crocetti, 1998), "Le nuvole" (Crocetti, 2007), "Le parti dell’amore" (sedizioni, 2010), "Stamattina" (Ladolfi, 2014), and "Tradurre è un bacio" (forthcoming).
