On the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, Careof imagine archive theme, for an exhibition that is not only a form of historicizing, static and didactic, but a curved path, which surfs between languages ​​and devices that have characterized the production of moving images and sounds of these last three decades.

canecapovolto is the author of this dive. With their production, just as (almost) thirty years, which continues unabated in the immense southern Italy, and their constant attention to the media, to the tools and devices, the group has been invited to create a solo show that sum an idea of archive to archive, through a personal path that can not be separated, as well as by the choice of the works, also by its media. In all these years canecapovolto went through different camera tools, editing and playback. At the same time those who followed them, viewed the works passing from old VHS of TV cathodic tube to the dvd for lcd monitor till files on video platforms. This not only changed the intimate perception and personal vision but has affected, to date, even on the collective willingness of the “product" video, shifting the practice of possession to the practice of access. Their archive of images and sounds is always alive and helpful, almost always on fire. Never interrupt the lifeline that regenerates continuously in the timeline of their thinking.

Fiamme negli archivi also presents a selection of the archive of sounds produced by Scuola FuoriNorma a multidisciplinary program founded by canepavolto to maintain a constant relationship between theory and creative work practices. The audio archive will be available for the duration of the exhibition to sensitive and refined ears.

Biografia artisti

canecapovolto nasce a Catania nel 1992.

In una continua sperimentazione, supportata dall'uso di vari mezzi quali film acustici, video, installazioni, happening, collages, canecapovolto sviluppa un'indagine sulle possibilità espressive della visione e sulle dinamiche della percezione, adoperando tecniche originali di trattamento e manipolazione dell'immagine. Partendo dal cinema, dunque da esperimenti visivi e sonori inizialmente legati al cortometraggio in super-8, il gruppo ricorre a diverse pratiche di produzione audio-video, "sabotando" l'immagine mediatica di partenza con l'intento di attuare strategie di spiazzamento. Grande attenzione è rivolta ad indagare la matrice scientifica della comunicazione e la sua risposta nello spettatore.
