On Tuesday, 12 September 2023, Marta Bianchi, President of Careof, will take part in the “Forum Cultura 2023 — Milano Contemporanea,” promoted and curated by the Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Milano as an opportunity to acknowledge and reflect on the city as a laboratory of artistic expression and cultural innovation.
From 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Sala Viscontea of the Castello Sforzesco will host a day of dialogues, reflections, and in-depth discussions through a series of talks, where expert, curator, cultural professional, artist will share their experiences and vision on crucial topics: from the presence of contemporary art in public space to the complex interaction between the public and private spheres, from the fundamental contribution of independent organizations to the challenge of communicating the contemporary.
In the morning, following the institutional greetings from Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milano, Tommaso Sacchi, Assessor for Culture of the Comune di Milano, and Marco Minoja, Director of Culture of the Comune di Milano, at 10:30 a.m. there will be a panel featuring Massimiliano Gioni, Artistic Director of Fondazione Nicola Trussardi; Damiano Gullì, contemporary art and public program curator at Triennale Milano; the artist Adrian Paci; Roberto Pinto, Associate Professor of Contemporary Art History at the University of Bologna and coordinator of Artline Milano; and Marina Pugliese, Director of the museum area, intercultural projects, and art in public space for the Comune di Milano, on the theme “Milano e l’arte contemporanea nello spazio pubblico” (moderated by Cristiana Campanini).
This will be followed by the session “Milano e gli spazi del contemporaneo tra amministrazione pubblica e spazi privati” moderated by Ilaria Bonacossa, Director of the Museo Nazionale di Arte Digitale, with the participation of Giovanna Amadasi, Head of public and educational programs at Pirelli Hangarbicocca; Chiara Costa, Head of programs at Fondazione Prada; Gianfranco Maraniello, Director of modern and contemporary art museums of the Comune di Milano; Diego Sileo, curator at PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea; and art critic and independent curator Giacomo Zaza.
Andrea Cancellato, President of Federculture, will open the afternoon sessions. It begins with “Il contributo degli operatori indipendenti,” moderated by Chiara Nuzzi, curator and editorial manager at Fondazione ICA, with contributions from Marta Bianchi, President of Careof; Stefano Cernuschi, co-director of Ordet; Linda Di Pietro, Artistic Director of BASE Milano; Elena Quarestani, founder and president of Assab One; and Danilo Ruggiero, President of Untitled Association.
The program continues with “Comunicare il contemporaneo,” moderated by Luca Zuccala, journalist at Corriere and Director of Artslife. Speakers include: Elena Conenna, press office of the Comune di Milano and project manager for city promotion; Camilla Invernizzi, President of Artsfor_; Cloe Piccoli, art critic, curator, professor of Contemporary Art History at the Accademia di Brera, and art and architecture writer for Repubblica; Giulia Ronchi, Editor-in-chief of exibart; and Francesco Valtolina, Creative Director of Mousse Magazine.
Caroline Corbetta, independent curator, journalist, and Founding Director of @ilCrepaccio, will moderate the session “Il sistema dell’arte contemporanea tra MiArt e gallerie,” with participants including Franco Broccardi, chartered accountant and partner at studio bbs-lombard; Maria Grazia Longoni, lawyer, partner at lCA studio legale and Head of the art department; gallerist Massimo Minini, also board member of Italics; Nicola Ricciardi, Artistic Director of MiArt; and Astrid Welter, President of milano art community.
Milano Contemporanea will conclude with Tommaso Sacchi, Assessor for Culture of the Comune di Milano; architect and urban planner Stefano Boeri; artist Suzanne Jackson; Bruna Roccasalva, Director of Fondazione Furla; and art critic Angela Vettese (moderated by journalist and writer Annarita Briganti).
