Careof takes part in the 69th International Short Film Festival of Oberhausen (Germany), one of the oldest and most prestigious short film events in the world.

For the occasion, the recent screenings of Careof will be presented by Marta Bianchi to the international public on Thursday 27 April 2023 from 20:00

The programme includes the screening of "Ministers of Loneliness” by Rebecca Moccia (Italy/Japan/United Kingdom/USA, 2023, 15’), "What Has Left Since We Left” by Giulio Squillacciotti (Italy/Netherlands, 2020, 21’), "The Cute and the Useful” by The Cool Couple (Italy/South Africa, 2021, 17’) and "Il Cielo Stellato” by Caterina Erica Shanta (Italy, 2020, 15’).
"Ministers of Loneliness” by the winner of ArteVisione 2022 Rebecca Moccia will be presented as a world premiere.

“Ministries of Loneliness” by Rebecca Moccia has been developed in different cultural and international contexts, like the United Kingdom, the USA, Japan and Italy. It is a research project that investigates loneliness and its politicization within the neoliberal society, starting from the experience of isolation and the dissolution of everyday life during the COVID-19 pandemic. The practical and symbolic starting point of the entire project is the Minister of Loneliness, a dicastery founded in Great Britain in 2018 to address the social and health problems related to loneliness. It was later replicated in Canada and Japan in 2021.

The work will be presented to the Italian public from next Thursday May 4 2023, at the Fondazione ICA Milano as part of Rebecca Moccia’s solo exhibition “Ministry of Loneliness” curated by Chiara Nuzzi. It will be open until July 15 2023.

The International Short Film Festival of Oberhausen is an important international event that every year involves thousands of professionals in the field of short film from all over the world. As the only presence from Italy, the participation of Careof reconfirms its commitment to build networks with international subjects to share values, objectives, and strategies, with the aim of promoting the most innovative research in the field of moving image.
