Gaia De Megni is the winner of ArteVisione 2024, the annual project by Careof dedicated to supporting, producing, and promoting the most innovative research in the field of moving images.

The jury selected “Maria’s Dream” for its ability to transform a performative gesture into an intimate and layered visual journey, where personal memory and film history intertwine. Through a dialogue between mother and daughter, the project takes Monica Vitti as a pivotal figure to reflect on female representations in cinema and the cultural expectations tied to gender identity. With an experimental approach and evocative use of the audiovisual medium, Gaia De Megni turns cinematic language into a critical and poetic device, capable of renegotiating the relationship between image, voice, and subjectivity.

As with previous editions of ArteVisione—which has produced works by Yuri Ancarani, Francesco Bertocco, Fatima Bianchi, Giuseppe Fanizza, Riccardo Giacconi, Beatrice Marchi (in fieri), Martina Melilli, Rebecca Moccia, Caterina Erica Shanta, Giulio Squillacciotti, The Cool Couple, Luca Trevisani, and ZimmerFrei—Gaia De Megni’s film work “Maria’s Dream” will also be produced by Careof, reaffirming its commitment to supporting Italian artists and concretely sustaining their work and research in the field of moving images.

Thanks to Simona Andrioletti, Beatrice Favaretto, Benedetta Fioravanti, and Cristina Lavosi, the finalist artists of ArteVisione 2024.

ArteVisione 2024 is realized in collaboration with Filmmaker Festival and Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea, with the patronage of Comune di Milano, and the support of Fondazione Comunitaria Nord Milano. Recognized as a regional subject of relevance for the 2022/2024 triennium.
