We are participating in the study days within the framework of "Il video rende felici," at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome: three working groups involve artists, scholars, and institutions on relevant themes for video art in Italy, curation, production and distribution, and the legal status of video, with the aim of collectively developing operational proposals to be discussed on July 5, 6, and 7 at the cloister-garden of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna.

April 29, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
THE LEGAL STATUS OF VIDEO
Video art still struggles today to find a clear and shared legal status: it is associated with cinematography, suffers the limitations of easily reproducible and perishable media, often issued in non-limited and unnumbered editions, and is subject to obsolescence due to technological development. Of extreme importance, therefore, is the legal analysis aimed at qualifying this medium in order to define its expressive nature and understand how to manage its circulation, guarantee its protection, uniqueness, conservation, and enhancement, and ensure its authenticity.
