Zimmerfrei - Intervallo

Intervallo
Diretto da Zimmerfrei

[2011] 2013

14’30”, 1920x1080, Apple Pro-res, 25fps

In Intervallo (2013) ZimmerFrei's imagery is rendered through nine very short videos, intense portraits of places inside Sky Italia's headquarters in Milan. Each “intermission” is dedicated to a different place and is characterised by a sound composition that mixes field recordings, music and electroacoustic sounds, making sound and environment an evocative unicum that gives life to a series of environments populated by dreams and cinematographic figures.

The nine clips produced were born as "intermissions between broadcasts", unexpected moments that should have marked a change of pace, a suspension in the flow of programs and information. They are indeed evocations, suspended moments and free imaginations, brief escapes from the other side of the screen that paint an imagery – poetic and dreamy moments hidden between the folds of the work.

"Intervallo" is a work produced in the context of ArteVisione 2011, a project by Careof and Sky Italia. The video was aired on Sky Arte HD and was presented at the Schermo dell'Arte in Florence in 2015.

SYNOPSIS

“Intervallo” counts nine very short videos, intense portraits of places inside the Sky Italia headquarters in Milan. Each intervallo (interval) is dedicated to a different space and it is characterised by a sound composition that mixes recordings, music, and electroacoustic sounds, making sound and atmosphere an evocative unicum that transforms places populated by dreams and cinematic figures.
The nine clips act as “interval between broadcasts”, unexpected moments that mark a change of pace, a suspension in the programmes and information flow. These are evocations, suspended times and free imaginations, short escapes from the other side of the screen that paint imaginary, poetic and dreamy moments hidden in the folds of the work.

ZIMMERFREI - BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1999 from the collaboration between Anna Rispoli (1974), Anna de Manincor (1972) and Massimo Carozzi (1967), ZimmerFrei is a group of artists with transversal practices based in Bologna and Bruxelles. The group works in the field of visual arts and performance, music and cinema, realising works of various formats that each time redefine a language and require devices for fruition: sound environments, video installations, performances, multimedia shows, documentary films, photographic series, objects, or audio-visual prototypes. ZimmerFrei is dedicated to the investigation of urban spaces, from city centres to suburbs. The group focuses on interstitial areas to tell stories and very specific portions of reality, where details of lived life converse in a present, past and future time with imaginary landscapes. Their productions – whether they originate in Rome, Milan, Brussels, Copenhagen, Budapest, Mutonia or Marseille – become an opportunity to linger at a single point until they sink into the heart of the city and build narratives around the social universe.
