The pairing of these two artists stems from the fact that both work with found materials. For neither of them is it simply a matter of the now well-established process of the ready-made—which is nonetheless implicit in the act of searching and interpreting what one finds—but rather a pursuit, within the materials the world offers, of those specific qualities that provoke a certain kind of manipulation.

It is precisely from the differing sensitivities they each have toward materials that the individual language of each begins to emerge: while Elisabeth Hölzl is particularly attuned to visual structures and their articulation into architectures that establish calm and rhythmic relationships with space, Luca Scarabelli instead focuses on the diversity of materials and the contrast between surfaces, with a particular attention to the articulation of minimal differences.
