Isabella Puliafito • IDEO-grammi
28.11.1993 - 10.01.1994
With IDEO-grammi, Isabella Puliafito—an artist who has long studied and practiced various Eastern disciplines such as Zen, Yoga, Feng Shui, and others—presents her latest work simultaneously at Galleria Careof and at “Il Cerchio,” placing it within a narrative path that begins in a space dedicated to art and continues in a setting that completes its meaning.
Her work moves, in fact, between the material and the immaterial. When matter is tangible and temporary, it is fragile; and when intangible, it contains within itself the sense of the infinite. Between these two poles, Isabella Puliafito's work seems to settle into a dimension of evanescence and precariousness regarding things and material values, while emphasis is placed on the encounter between place and substance—an alignment that fosters the exchange of energy.
The idea of presenting the work in an unusual place such as the Zen Buddhist Monastery Il Cerchio arose from various and often surprising coincidences between making art and Zen practice, as well as from the Monastery’s openness to engaging with the world of art. Certainly, the desire to meet on different ground serves as a source of mutual inspiration.
On the occasion of the exhibition, artist-dancer Anna Zamboni presented a performance within the gallery space.
