Milano.Melbourne.Milano

M.M.M is part of a cultural exchange project between the recently twinned cities of Milano and Melbourne, which includes the development of a program of residencies, exhibitions, and professional relationships among artists, curators, and institutions.
Conceived in June 2005, the exchange project is coordinated by curator Natalie King and the Director of the Monash University Museum of Art in Melbourne, Max Delany.

M.M.M develops in several stages. It begins in Milano with the presentation of selected works from the Careof video library, which will later be exhibited in Melbourne at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces alongside works by other Italian artists (www.gertrude.org.au). It continues between August and September in Sydney and Melbourne, where, as part of Gertrude’s Visiting Curator Program, Chiara Agnello and Roberta Tenconi will curate a schedule of presentations and exhibitions focused on the young Italian art scene, particularly from Milano. The results of the research conducted in Sydney and Melbourne on the Australian art scene will be presented in Milano in autumn 2006 and in February 2007 as part of the event “Melbourne in Milan.”

Currently participating in the project are: Rebecca Agnes, Nicoletta Agostini, Meris Angioletti, Marco Belfiore, Elisabetta Benassi, Riccardo Benassi, Davide Bertocchi, Dafne Boggeri, Roberto Cuoghi, Marta dell’Angelo, Rä di Martino, Michael Fliri, Christian Frosi and Alex Cecchetti, goldiechiari, Alice Guareschi, invernomuto, Deborah Ligorio, Armin Linke and Amedeo Martegani, Valentina Loi, Domenico Mangano, Marzia Migliora, Ottonella Mocellin, Nicola Pelligrini, Margherita Morgantin, Sandrine Nicoletta, Diego Perrone, Gabriele Picco, Federico Pietrella, Riccardo Previdi, Moira Ricci, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Nico Vascellari, Zimmerfrei.
