The first appointment for Lelabò is with Alessandro Nassiri Tabibzadeh, who presents a complex project he has worked on over the past year: TR4480C. An Odyssey of the 21st Century.
TR4480C is the return journey of a Volkswagen Golf, produced in 1979 in Germany and first purchased in Italy, where it remained until 1994 when it reached Albania. In May 2007, the final journey took place, once again back to Italy.

31.01.2008 / OLYVETTY’S IM LEEREEN release party
Hundebiss Records presents the new 7" by Olyvetty
The second appointment of Lelabò is with the independent label HUNDEBISS RECORDS on the occasion of the release of the 7" Im Leeren by OLYVETTY, an assault of freaky noise packaged in a handcrafted cover that explodes into a minimal-psychedelic pop-up. The entire event will take place at Careof, whose spaces will be completely transformed into a primordial environment.
Before and after OLYVETTY’s set, a mix of global beat, drones, and dubstep with Invernomuto DJ Set.
OLYVETTY is an audio-visual environment project, born in Berlin in 2006 from the meeting of musician Claudio Rocchetti and visual artist Riccardo Benassi. OLYVETTY is the distortion of a symbol, the dominance of language over content and of information over production.
The systematic exploration of noise backgrounds and minimal-techno drifts reaches new visionary approaches.

OLYVETTY’s first release is as all-encompassing as a hole, a double picture-disc vinyl hand-etched.
OLYVETTY has performed at festivals such as Sonambiente (Berlin-2006), From the concrete music to the object sound (Venice-2007), Flora (Florence-2007), Netmage (January 2008) and has created audio-visual environments across Germany and Italy in public and private spaces.

Hundebiss Records (Sounds From The Mountain) is a project conceived by Barbara Bertucci & Simone Trabucchi. Its activity mainly focuses on the self-production of weird-out music from various genres (noise, folk, avant-metal, retro-punk), as well as the production of objects and environments characterized by an ostentatious d.i.y. practice. Moreover, Hundebiss is also a small “ghost boutique” trading vinyl, cd-rs, and cassettes of bands sharing a similar vision to the label. Hundebiss Records is located in the hills of Piacenza, Vernasca (PC).

Presentation of the online editorial project Brown conceived by Luca Francesconi and Luigi Presicce, with graphic concept by Paolo Gonzato
For the third appointment of Lelabò, Careof presents Brown Magazine. Brown is a place for in-depth exploration, an open reality, a will to connect, and ultimately, a desire to analyze that part of contemporary art close to popular culture, spirituality, alchemy, and metaphysics.
The project, non-profit, will develop online, with a quarterly frequency and in a bilingual version (Italian/English).

The format will be mainly based on interviews, both as a more direct form of dialogue and research, and as a position of exchange between those asking questions and those answering. There will be no reviews or advertising.
Brown will draw on contributions from curators and artists of different nationalities. Besides a general section dedicated to the artistic production of various authors, Brown will also collect specific interviews focused on a single work, as well as in-depth studies on artists from the recent past. Particular attention will be reserved for all those similar realities with which it ideally intends to establish a relationship.
Brown was born from the idea of Luca Francesconi and Luigi Presicce, with the graphic concept by Paolo Gonzato and the technical support of Francesca Conchieri. Brown, in the spirit of being much more than a magazine, also foresees initiatives such as workshops with authors and curators, debates, events, and other activities, mostly (but not necessarily) linked to the launch of an issue.
The first edition will include, among others, a conversation by Katia Anguelova with Seams Farrell, an interview by Lorena Giuranna to Alessandra Galbiati on Alik Cavaliere, with a wide selection of unpublished writings by the artist curated by Lorena Giuranna and Luigi Presicce, an analysis by Caterina Riva on the performative work of Joan Jonas, as well as an initial mapping of non-profit spaces in Europe. Denis Isaia interviews Felix Kubin, Luca Francesconi talks with Olivier Babin about the work Los Angelus, Eleonora Battiston meets Carol Lu and Pink Studio.

20.02.2008 / B, B, B, C, F, G, G, K, R, S, V… Video dall’archivio giovani artisti della Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa
Curated by Marco Ferraris and Stefano Coletto
The fourth appointment of Lelabò features B, B, B, C, F, G, G, K, R, S, V…, a selection of videos from the young artists archive of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa curated by Marco Ferraris and Stefano Coletto. The exhibition includes works by Daniele Babbo, Ludovico Bomben, Roberta Bruzzechesse, Elena Cadore, Elisa Fabris, Riccardo Giacconi, Giovanni Giaretta, Kensuke Koike, Matteo Rosso, Shoggoth (Paolo Pennuti and Daniele Pezzi), and Debora Vrizzi.
The selection responds to the dual need to give visibility to young artists who have developed consistent and interesting video work, and to bring together diverse styles and goals within this expressive form — ranging from allusions to music videos, the reinterpretation of existential and individual narratives, awareness of the influence of mass media images, to conceptual reflection on verbal language.
The videos on display from February 20 to 23, 2008, will then become part of the Video Archive that Careof has been organizing since 1987. The Video Archive — part of the DOCVA Documentation Center for Visual Arts managed in collaboration with Viafarini — holds 4,500 titles including artist works and video documentations.
On March 5, Careof will present a selection of video works from its archive at the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa.

The Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa is the oldest institution in Italy established to promote young artists. Its artist archive has been active since 2002, specifically aimed at promoting and monitoring the young artist scene living or residing in Venice and the Triveneto area. It currently counts over 900 registered Italian and foreign resident artists and is regularly consulted by curators and gallery owners alike.
The archive project is closely linked to other activities of the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa aimed at young artists, such as international exchanges, exhibitions, allocation of artist studios, and ongoing support and consultancy for events taking place in the territory. Over the years, the archive has become a fundamental tool to enhance exhibition activities and increase the visibility of artistic experimentation in the region.
27.02 > 01.03.2008 / Tutto giusto. Chiara Fumai / Selezione di video, scritti e contraffazioni di una ragazza dai baffi lunghi
The final appointment of Lelabò is with Chiara Fumai, a visual artist also known in the music scene as DJ Pippi Langstrumpf.
Provocative and irreverent, always balancing between seriousness and playfulness, Chiara Fumai explores a universe where reality and fiction constantly collide. Her work takes personal life experiences—borrowed from family life—and stretches them into full-blown fabrications. For instance, her father Nico Fumai is presented as a well-known singer-songwriter with an internationally distributed discography. The precious hair of her grandmother—a quintessential female role model—transforms into the long mustache of the “mustache woman,” whose highly personal objects can be found for sale on eBay. In another video, the artist portrays an elegant princess staging her alter ego disrupting the performance of DJ Pippi Langstrumpf. Finally, dressed as a peasant woman in traditional Cretan clothes, Chiara performs the controversial 1934 Greek song Eimai Prezakias (literally “I am an opium addict”) by Roza Eskenazy. While it entertains the audience, the song carries strong and dramatic undertones.

By blending entertainment and artistic practice, her work reflects on the female role in society and the stereotypes imposed by it.
Chiara Fumai lives and works between Milan and Switzerland.
