Videozero 2010

As every year, eleven works have been selected from those produced within the course Storia del Cinema e del Video, in order to provide an overview of the research conducted by young artists. A journey that ranges from the objective recording of the everyday by Vladimir Jankovic, to the surreal and metaphysical atmospheres of Francesco Bertocco, passing through works that recall the beginnings of video art – as in the case of Lorenzo Marro; from the exploration of the body by Giulia Roncucci, to the stop-motion ‘exercises’ by Mirko Treccani and Eric Davanzo; from reflections on urban space by Giulia De Marinis and Alice Ronchi, to the animated drawings of Lidia Meriggi focusing on the theme of identity in the metropolitan dimension. From a multi-temporal and multi-format diary by Ilaria Pezone, the journey continues to the care of signs and colors by Federico Ellade Peruzzotti, arriving finally at the search for the essential long take by Valeria Proserpio.

Eleven videos, hardly groupable under a single stylistic or thematic umbrella, manifest a multiplicity of references, influences, and conceptual nodes. Except, perhaps, for the common tendency to avoid a linear narrative structure in favor of fragmented, intermittent, elliptical temporalities.

Videozero has been present at important film events such as those organized by the Associazione Cinematografica Pandora in Milan, the Torino Film Festival, the Centro Sociale BULK in Milan, the Milano Film Festival, the PAC in Milan, Strade del Cinema in Aosta, and Spazio Lima in Milan.

The videos are available for viewing until February 18, 2011. Afterwards, they will become part of the video collection of the Archivio Video Careof.
