After last year’s workshop, the collaboration between Careof and Monash University Art Design and Architecture in Melbourne continues, offering a new opportunity for students to engage with the Milanese context. FDV Residency Program hosts nineteen second-year students from the Bachelor in Fine Arts and Bachelor in Visual Arts programs, accompanied by Stephen Garrett, artist and Program Coordinator for Drawing, from October 8 to 11.
The stay is part of the broader Fine Arts Study in Italy program promoted by the Australian university and structured as a study period at the Prato Centre, complemented by exploratory trips throughout Italy. In this context, Careof provides access to its archive and offers a workshop that involves the visiting young artists in a mutual exchange on contemporary art themes. Gianluca De Serio is the artist invited this year to present his work and, based on the discussions, to develop reflections and new project ideas with all participants. Furthermore, the Milan stop gives students the chance to connect with the various realities of Fabbrica del Vapore and to visit the city’s main cultural institutions.
The project is part of Careof’s program of deepening the international art scene, developed since 2013 through project presentations, video screenings, and residencies for artists and curators, born from a research trip Marta Bianchi/Careof conducted in Australia in early 2013.
