Presentation of the collaboration bewtween Elena Bellantoni e Mariana Farratto after a period of artistic residency.
From 19.01.2015 to 21.01.2015
19.01.2015 - meeting Il potere della musica, la musica del potere curated by Massimiliano Viel
Passo a due is the result of a research about the concept of power. It is born from the collaboration between Elena Bellantoni and Mariana Ferratto and it’s presented today in the spaces of FDV Residency, the venue in which the project was born and developed.
The project is divided in the video installations Il capo sono io by Mariana Ferratto and The Struggle for Power, the Fox and the Wolf by Elena Bellantoni, accompanied by the materials produced during the studio time in Milan. Starting from the analysis of the “coupleìs relationship” concept, the two artists have produced two different artworks, joined by the same sound carpet. In each work, a voice accompanies, describes and anticipates images, making the performer couple the main protagonists of the two researches, symbols and visual encyclopedias of the human and animal behaviour into the relation of power in two.
During their permanence here, Bellantoni and Ferratto have deepened their own study course based on a theorical plan, using materials by the DOCVA Archive. Sharing day by day spaces and habits, the artists have reflected on power as a main theme, in its most usual forms, through the application of rules and the unaware generation of domain forms.
The Archive, as a tool of power able to create hierarchies and connections, has also been the main conceptual reference, essential for the reading and the organization of the collected materials. It will also be presented Archivio del Potere , consisting of a fanzine that gathers a questionnaire addressed to curators and critics with which the artists were interfacing.
The presentation is anticipated by an in-depth meeting called Il potere della musica, la musica del potere focused on the relation between sound and power, curated by Massimiliano Viel , musicologist and composer.
At the end of the meeting, Viel will introduce Bellantoni's and Ferratto's works.
The artworks will be displayed until the 21st of January at the spaces of FDV Residency, by Palazzina Liberty in Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan.

Passo a due is born by the collaboration between Elena Bellantoni and Mariana Ferratto. Its objective is the analysis of the concept of power, starting from couples' relationships, in order to produce two distinct videoart works still united by the same sound carpet.
During the residency at FDV Residency Program the artists have deepened their research path both on theoretical plane, using materials preserved at DOCVA, and on the practical plane sharing day by day spaces and habits.
From this experience were born areas of research around which the two artists concentrated their own attention in order to produce works displayed at FDV Residency Program: Il capo sono io by Mariana Ferratto and The Struggle for Power, the Fox and the Wolf by Elena Bellantoni.
