Passo a due
DISPLAY OF THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN Elena Bellantoni and Mariana Ferratto after a time of resistance
From 19.01.2015 to 21.01.2015
19.01.2015 - meeting Il potere della musica, la musica del potere curated by Massimiliano Viel
Passo a due is the result of a research on the concept of power born from the collaboration between Elena Bellantoni and Mariana Ferratto, presented today at the FDV Residency spaces, the place where it was born and developed (residency program May 2014).
The project is expressed through the video installations Il capo sono io by Mariana Ferratto and The Struggle for Power, the Fox and the Wolf by Elena Bellantoni, accompanied by materials produced during the study period in Milan. Starting from the analysis of the couple relationship, the two artists created two distinct works, joined by a similar soundscape. In both cases, a voice accompanies, describes, and sometimes anticipates the images, making the pairs of performers protagonists of the two researches, symbols and visual encyclopedias of human and animal behaviors in power relations between two.
During their residency, Bellantoni and Ferratto deepened their study path on a theoretical level, making use of the material preserved in the Archive, as well as on a practical level. Sharing spaces and habits day by day, they reflected on power in its most everyday forms, through the application of rules or the unconscious generation of forms of dominance.
The archive, as a tool of power capable of generating hierarchies and connections, was also the essential conceptual reference for the reading and organization of the collected material. Additionally, L’Archivio del Potere will be presented, consisting of a fanzine that gathers a questionnaire addressed to curators and critics with whom the artists interacted.
The presentation is preceded by the in-depth meeting Il potere della musica, la musica del potere on the relationship between sound and power, curated by Massimilano Viel, composer and musicologist. At the end, Viel will introduce the works of Bellantoni and Ferratto. The works will be on view until January 21 at the FDV Residency spaces, at Palazzina Liberty at the Fabbrica del Vapore.

RESIDENCY
Elena Bellantoni, Mariana Ferratto
05.05 > 11.06.2014
Passo a due is born by the collaboration between Elena Bellantoni and Mariana Ferratto. Its objective is the analysis of the concept of power, starting from couples' relationships, in order to produce two distinct videoart works still united by the same sound carpet.
During the residency at FDV Residency Program the artists have deepened their research path both on theoretical plane, using materials preserved at DOCVA, and on the practical plane sharing day by day spaces and habits.
From this experience were born areas of research around which the two artists concentrated their own attention in order to produce works displayed at FDV Residency Program: Il capo sono io by Mariana Ferratto and The Struggle for Power, the Fox and the Wolf by Elena Bellantoni.
