“What Has Left Since We Left”, published by Onomatopee with graphic design by Studio Temp, is the volume that accompanies the homonymous film by Giulio Squillacciotti and investigates the fictional end of Europe using a language linked to the idea of love and separation.
Comparing the political bonds that tie European countries to emotional and sentimental fluctuations, the project examines the complexity of European relations by analyzing categories such as identity, collapse, migration, conflict, and hope.
The book presents contributions by Ayşe Zarakol, Marwan Moujaes, Federico Lodoli, Marina Lalovic and Erica Petrillo, which complete and expand the screenplay for the film “What Has Left Since We Left” - directed by Giulio Squillacciotti and written with Daan Milius and Huib Haye van der Werf - which romanticizes the current European dystopia. The backstage images and the frames of this production, together with a European timeline from World War II to Brexit curated by Enrico De Gasperis, offer a specific overview on the whole project.
