Careof presents “"Precipitazioni sotto il livello del mare” by Luca Petti, curated by Marta Ferretti and Daniele Girardi.
The exhibition shows the artist’s most recent research on the combination between animal and plant world, and his studies on the evolutionary paths that developed after the Anthropocene.
All this, set in a saline and desert environment victim of climate change.

Our era is based on technology, organic and inorganic elements. Starting from this, Petti analyzes the transformation of matter in order to raise consciousness on the survival conditions of our planet, which is more and more in danger because of human beings.

At this point, the nature of our planet is extreme. Here, human beings no longer exist and it’s only their fault. They have been replaced by organisms with unexpected shapes and purposes. Dystopian animals that developed from the primitive conditions of earth when, thousands of years ago, the Mediterranean Sea almost completely evaporated, leaving a deep and dry basin. Petti populates this environment - made only of saline deposits - with new imaginary beings that rebelled against human supremacy, now living there despite their differences.
The sculptures from the series "Materia Esotica” and "Specie Elastiche per Crepe dinamiche” show a not so far future: here, the symbiotic relationship between the natural, animal and plant world is the only possible way to ensure a future for our planet.

Luca Petti - Biography

Luca Petti (Benevento, 1990) lives in Milan. He moved to Milan to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Brera in 2010. He took part in many collective and personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Now, he is a professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Naples and Accademia di Belle Arti of Verona.

"Precipitazioni sotto il livello del mare" is the final part of the RAR Residenza Artistica Rurale Prize: it is a project of territorial and rural culture valorization with art languages. It was awarded to the artist Luca Petti, represented by the Galleria Marrocco and the gallery Villa Contemporanea during the 2021 edition of ArtVerona. The prize, curated by Marta Ferretti and Daniele Girardi, is promoted by Careof in collaboration with ArtVerona, Accademia di Belle Arti of Verona, Azienda Agricola Domenico Fraccaroli, Civic Museums of Verona – Museum of Natural History. It is also under the patronage of Regione del Veneto and Comune of Lavagno.
