On Thursday 30 November and Friday 1 December 2023, Careof will present a program of public events focused on video work, from cinema to visual arts. Two days of roundtable discussions, talks, panels and screenings that are free and open to the public featured in ArteVisione 2023, a yearly project by Careof founded in 2011 with the aim of supporting, producing, and promoting the most innovative research within the field of moving image. The project includes a training course and the production of new video works.

On Thursday 30 November, two events will be open to the public. At 18.30, a roundtable discussion titled “Distributing Moving Images: Context and Geographies”, will be held and moderated by art historian, curator, and lecturer Lorenza Pignatti. The event’s aim is to analyze how the circulation of artists’ moving images changes depending on differences in social and cultural context. A discussion held in English will involve international professionals and experts like Andreas Bergman (producer and curator at Filmform, Stockholm), Eva Sangiorgi (artistic director at VIENNALE, Vienna), Shireen Seno (artist and co-founder of Los Otros, Manila), and Giulio Squillacciotti (artist and director).

At 21.00, after the first event,  it will be possible to attend a screening of some of the most important works by Los Otros and Filmform, two of the most interesting international voices within moving image distribution.

On Friday 1 December, at 19.00, a special guest will be at the center of the event, Shireen Seno, artist and co-founder of Los Otros (Manila), with a discussion and a screening moderated by Maria Paola Zedda, independent curator and artistic director of ZEIT (Cagliari).

During both events, Seno’s artistic investigation, which focuses on the colonial memory of one’s own country and how this memory affects the history of images and the norms of photography, will be examined.

How does the circulation of artists’ moving images change depending on different geographical and cultural contexts? Do models and formats that have not yet been explored in Italy exist?
Careof invites international professionals and experts working within the field of moving image to a roundtable discussion focused on the aforementioned themes in order to discuss strategies, relationship networks, and respective communities.
The event will be held in English with the possibility of Italian translation upon request.
